Kantoren Bontinck A & E- Gent

The concept of the new AA Gent football stadium includes space for offices, retail and hospitality and catering. Bontinck Architecture and Engineering chose to locate its offices in this unique place with beautiful views over the pitch. A closed structure containing the toilets, server room and kitchenette is placed in the centre. Here, there is also a reception desk, and, behind, the large open plan office for 30 employees. The lounge connects to several meeting rooms. The walkway ends at the informal meeting area with catering kitchen. Customers and staff have the use of a large, private car park nearby.

The atypical shapes of the different spaces are a characteristic of the site. The office is approximately 100 m in length with a variable width between 10 and 12.5 m. Two of the façades are glazed, with the inner façade overlooking the stadium and the outer façade the centre of Ghent. In order to create transparency in the office, open and closed spaces are separated by glass walls. A conference room is decorated with vintage furniture and works of art, as a tribute to the firm’s founder architect Geo Bontinck. It was decided to create an inspiring work environment, as demonstrated by the common bench workstations, as well as the light materials, colours and optimized light distribution.
