Concept

The Diamond site along Koningin Fabiolalaan is located close to Sint-Pieters station, on the boundary of the lively station area and a quiet residential district. The office building is located near a public transport hub, where trains, trams and buses connect. A new access road directly links the site to the R4, which connects to the E40 and E17.

Diamond is part of the Ghent Sint-Pieters master plan, which transforms the old station area into a contemporary, multifunctional site. Working, living and sustainable transport are key elements in the project's vision. Pedestrians, cyclists and commuters feel right at home in this vibrant part of the city.

The iconic building consists of a glass space supported by a solid, elegant base. This creates a prominent presence on the street side and a minimalist look from the esplanade. The building's grid façade is finished with an ingenious pattern, based on the city's historic architecture. The architecture of the Diamond site is the work of the New York architectural firm Asymptote Architects, with technical follow-up provided by Bontinck Architecture & Engineering.

Diamond offers six floors of quality and comfortable office space, supplemented with shared facilities, multifunctional rooms and a spacious patio. The ground floor includes an impressive atrium providing lots of daylight, a shared entrance hall and reception, meeting rooms and a catering establishment.

Office buildings play a major role in combating global warming. With a BREEAM certificate Diamond incorporates a whole series of sustainable tools from design up to and including use of the building.

BREEAM is an objective and internationally recognised method for assessing a construction project's sustainability. The focus is on reduced energy consumption, lower CO2 emissions and increased thermal comfort. The goal: a modern, sustainable and energy efficient office building, which is ready for the future.
